Hill Avenue Dental Technology

In today’s world, technology is ever changing and progressing. The latest technology allows us to do things that people 50 years ago never even imagined. Technology is changing the way dental procedures are performed, making each treatment more efficient and effective. Here at Hill Avenue Dental in Spirit Lake, Iowa, we pride ourselves in staying up-to-date with the latest technology. We want to make your visit to our office as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Digital Radiographs

Technology digital radiograph

Digital Radiographs are more commonly known as digital x-rays. Digital x-rays use x-ray sensors to replace photographic x-ray film. This produces a sharper, more enhanced image of your teeth and gums, making it easier for the doctor to analyze. The x-rays are instantly translated into a digital image, allowing for quick diagnosis.

Digital x-rays can be taken quickly, using an electronic sensor that is placed inside the mouth that connects to the camera outside of the mouth. These images end up saving patients money, as any dental issue can be caught early and is more easily treated. Digital x-rays also reduce up to 90% of radiation compared to traditional x-rays, making it a safer option for patients.

Digital Scanner

Technology digital scanner

Digital Scanners are mainly used to help improve the process of taking impressions. The scanner captures a 3D image of the patient’s teeth and gum tissue, making it easier to create impressions that can be used for several dental procedures. These scanners can speed up the impression process and allow for a less invasive experience. Impressions with scanners are also more accurate, making any aligners, crowns, and bridges better suited to fit your mouth perfectly.

Intraoral Camera

Technology intraoral camera

An Intraoral Camera is used to see the parts of your mouth that are hard to reach. The camera is placed into your mouth and the image is cast on a nearby screen. The camera is used to help diagnose different dental issues that may arise, such as tooth decay or periodontal disease. The Intraoral Camera allows for a close and clear look at your teeth. Pictures can be taken and used to track progress over the years.

The Intraoral Camera is noninvasive, convenient for quick diagnosis, and prevents dental issues from going untreated. Because the patients can also see what is happening on the screen, it allows them to gain a better understanding of how to improve their oral hygiene.

These different technologies allow for a better, non-invasive, convenient treatment at the dentist. At Hill Avenue Dental, our professionals are expertly trained on how to use each piece of equipment effectively. If you have any questions about the technology we use, please do not hesitate to ask. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with all of our patients.
